Call to Fall If My people who are called by My Name, would humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and I will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 We are called today as a nation to humble our selves in prayer and to come before God and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways. God is waiting in heaven to hear from you and from me. He wants to hear that we acknowledge that we have sinned, and that we have not humbled our selves but have let the forces of evil control our lives. God wants to hear from you, He wants you to humble your self, to look deep within your self, to acknowledge your sins and to pray to Him, to repent and ask Him for His forgiveness for the fact that we have forgotten our Lord God and have not given Him the praise and worship that He deserves. God does not want to see us fall into eternal hell, but He wants us to get on our knees and acknowledge that HE IS THE LORD AND THAT HE DESERVES ALL PRAISE AND THAT HIS PEOPLE SHOULD FOLLOW HIS WAY IN THEIR LIVES. This is what we need to do. Are you willing to commit to learning the way of the Lord and to humble your self and pray, to ask God for His forgiveness and to seek Him EVERY DAY in prayer so that He will heal our self and our land? “Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD…‘even now,” declares the LORD, ‘Return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.’ Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity.” Joel 1:14, 2:12-13 We are declaring a holy fast and a call to a sacred assembly. We are summoning all the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God. We will take time over the next few weeks to learn how to humble ourselves and to pray to God. We will begin with prayer and end with prayer. We will humble ourselves before God on our knees and beg God to forgive us and to heal this land. What better time than now as we have celebrated the birthday of our country. Will you accept this challenge and begin your life anew, to learn to love the LORD your God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, with all of your mind and with all of your strength? Will you give your life, all that it was, all that it is and all that it shall be to God and let His will be the driving force of your life? Will you surrender your control over to the LORD your God and be His child and let Him lead you? We need to set apart time with the LORD your God and to set all daily work aside. We need to honor the Sabbath as a day of rest, a day for good, to seek the LORD your God for spiritual and moral advice for our lives, especially during these times of moral decline before it is too late. Are you willing to let the devil continue to lead you in sin or are you ready for a change in your life? The time is at hand and we need to pray that the rebellion against our LORD God and our stubbornness toward His way is removed from our hearts and our lives are changed. We need to be fed by our LORD God so that we are nourished by His Word, His Truth, His Way, and by His Life so that once again we are devoted to Him with all of our lives. We must repent of our sins and begin again. Are you willing to begin again? By fasting and by prayer, we are showing to the LORD our God that we are willing to acknowledge that we need to discover what are sins are and acknowledge that God has the right to judge us because we have sinned and sinned so terribly, that we need to change our ways and to learn God’s ways. We need to sacrifice our lives, to live according to God’s ways and to put aside our selfishness and love the LORD your God above all things. A call to a Solemn Assembly does not last an hour, but was a call for a lengthy assembly to our God. In 2 Chronicles 7:8-9: So Solomon observed a festival at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him—a vast assembly, people from Lebo Hamath to the Wadi of Egypt. On the eighth day they held an assembly, for they had celebrated the dedication of the altar for seven days and the festival for seven days more. I am asking you to come before the Lord each day over the next several weeks to learn how to worship the LORD your God, to focus your life on Him and to learn from Him. This is a commitment on your part and on mine. Each day, I want you to get up a little earlier, and to read the Word and what God is saying to you. I say I want you to, but it is God Who wants you to come to Him and to learn. Starting this evening, I will be posting on the website Scriptures to read and to study and to learn from. In order to learn what a solemn assembly is, we need to spend time learning about it and we need to learn what the righteous requirements of the LORD are. Today is a solemn assembly but it is not the only one. We as a people of God have fallen so far but not far enough. We have not fallen on our knees in repentance towards our LORD God. We have not fallen to our knees to cry out to the LORD our God to forgive us our sins. We have not fallen to our knees to ask God to heal what we have broken. Let us now look at some of the sins that we have committed against our LORD God. We do not commit our selves to You LORD. We lack devotion and living our lives in Your way. We have put other things before You LORD God, our jobs, our lives, our sexual desires, our cars, our TV’s, giving them more priority in our lives than we give to You. We have fooled our selves into thinking that just saying we believe in You is enough. We have allowed the devil to lie to us and we continue to wallow in self pity and do nothing to change our selves but we desire others to do things and change things for us. We have become lazy LORD and we need to change. We have forgotten Your Word the very book for our lives, that it should be the guide book for our lives. We have instead listened to others tell us what is in there and that it now means something other than what You said that it means. Your Word is life to us and we are dying because we fail to commit time to Your Word and Your way. We covet wanting more and more and our greed has overwhelmed us. Our nation is hurting and our finances are gravely ill. We have put love of money over love of You LORD God. We worship time spent on having more and more money and not more and more of YOU in our lives. We lust after one another, in ways that are against YOUR commandments for our lives. We rage against one another in hatred and fear because we have trampled on YOUR WORD AND YOUR TRUTH. We have allowed the lies that now have become a part of our lives to become part of our laws of the land. We are failing as Your people and in doing so, we fail one another. We allow our selves to wallow in sexual sins in all the wantonness of a prostitute, giving away our bodies in sexual sin. We commit adultery, we lust after one another, we have given our selves over to depravity of sex, using it as a tool to control. We have allowed homosexuality, pornography, sex outside of marriage to become accepted, and now we pay the price by so many sexually transmitted diseases. We are prideful, arrogant, perverted, we listen to those who preach a new age religion, we allow witchcraft and the occult in our lives. We are overdosing on drugs and alcohol, killing our selves and wasting Your precious gift of life. We slander anyone who disagrees with us, and hurt one another and You. We murder our unborn children, under the lies of selfishness and greed. We allow our selves to discriminate against each other, instead of accepting each person as Your child. We fail to teach Your truths so as not to insult or make one feel bad about the sins that we are committing. We fail as Your ministers to teach Your commandments. We fail as Your ministers because we are more worried about attendance and money than we are about Your Word and Your way for our lives. We fail to rebuke because we fear man instead of fearing You. We live for the world and not for You. Father, these are but a few of the sins that we have committed. We ask that You come into our hearts and show us what we are doing that is against Your Word, against Your commandments and against Your will for our lives. We ask You Father, to forgive us of our sins, and to fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that You may guide us to follow Your way and to live our lives in Your truth. Lord, help us not to be blinded by the lies of the devil and to place our lives in Your hands and to allow You to have Your way in us. Teach us Your righteous way and show us Your Life so that we can be healed from our sins and You can heal the land. Give us the will to desire Your way in our lives. We are lazy and we need to stop being so. Father, we have it within us to be Your children and to follow the righteous way of You, our LORD and God. You created us to want to bring to You praise and to give all glory to You for our lives. Teach us to come back to what we were created for, teach us to be what we were created for, teach us to love You because You loved us first. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your Salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will turn back to You. Save me from the bloodguilt, O God, the God Who saves me, And my tongue will sing of Your righteousness. O LORD, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
