Chose This Day As Part Of The Vine “I AM the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up and thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask what ever you wish, and it will be given you. This is for My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples. John 15:5-8 Jesus is our vine and we are His branches, our lives being lived out on the vine intertwined with other like-minded Christians. In that we can bear good fruit as we serve the Lord. How do we serve the Lord? We live our lives so that others see the Lord and His amazing love in what we say and do. We live as to keep true to God and His Word for our lives. We exist to serve God and each other, and not the world with all it’s evil that the devil has filled it with. We live in the world but we do not abide in the world for we know that the world is filled with the devil’s lies. We are given 2 choices in life, to follow God or not to follow God. In the past 2 weeks we have asked for you to fall on your knees and ask the Lord to forgive your sins, and for the sins of this country of ours. It may seem like a hard thing to do, to ask God for His forgiveness for others who have been fooled by the devil and his lies. We are in such desperate times in this country. The President and Congress are in process of making laws to make us stop preaching the Bible and to forget all the things that God has commanded us or face jail. If we say that the Word Of God condemns homosexuality, that marriage is between a man and a woman, or that abortion is murder, we will be convicted of hate crimes. The gay and lesbian community wants to instill fear into Christians because they have been fooled by the lies of Satan into believing that their choice to live a life that is against God’s Word is okay. They say that Jesus teaches us love but that He did not mean for us to change from a life of sin. But they are wrong. They preach hate and make it hard to love them, but we must continue to love them. It’s because of love that we preach God’s Word. It’s because of love, that God says that it is wrong and against His nature. God does not change and neither does His Word or Commands. So how in the face of that do we bear good fruit? When we overcome. We have to overcome all the things that the devil sends against us. We have to stand firm in God’s truth and not fear the arrows that the devil is throwing at us. “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first. If you belong to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you (John 15:18-19). Satan has spread his lies and is trying to distort the Word of God. And because so many people do not take the time to study the Word of God to know what it says, they are easily convinced when the devil uses people to lie for him. God loves each and every one of His creations. But God does not force His creations to love Him in return. People who work to destroy God’s Word and His way for our lives, will pay the price and will spend eternity in hell. “As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in My love. If you obey My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have obeyed My Father’s commands and remain in His love (John 15:9-10) To remain in God’s love, one must follow His commands. Take some time to go into your room, any quiet place. Sit on your bed, the floor, or a chair. Take some slow deep breaths. Talk with God. Think of Him as being right there next to you. Somewhere, I read about a man who didn’t know how to talk to God. One day while he was talking to a minister, the minister suggested that he put a chair next to him and to imagine God was in the chair and just talk with God. It worked. And on the day that he died, the chair was beside his bed and it seems as if a dear friend had draw the chair close to the bed. That’s the kind of relationship that God wants with you. He wants to be your friend and friends look to what is best for you. And sometimes friends have to tell a friend that they should not be doing something. “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay his life down for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from My Father I have made known to you” (John 15:12-15). Jesus calls you friend. To let a friend do something that is not right is not being a friend at all. As Christians, our fruit is to bear witness to Jesus Christ and to bring glory to the Father. We are to keep true to God’s Word even in the face of the lies that the devil throws at us. His commands are not hard but overcoming the world is. We have to go against all the strongholds that the devil has built up to confuse people into believing his lies. “You did not chose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My Name. This is My Command: Love each other” (John 15:16-17). God has to prune us in order to make us into the vine that will bear much fruit. He will take and trim off of you things that are not right so that you can grow closer to God. God has to cut off the dead parts of us, sin, in order that we can bear even more fruit, to bear more glory to Him in our lives. We need not afraid of being trimmed, because it shows that God sees that we still have a chance to make our lives right with Him. In your walk with the Lord, if you are experiencing trimming, you can be sure that God loves you and knows that you will bear much fruit for Him. “I AM the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does not bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful (John 15:1-2). It is out of love that God calls us to repent of our sins and to be reborn. Those that follow Satan have no excuse really. For the Word has been made plain to them but they choose to ignore. But because of love, we need to rebuke those we love and tell them that they are sinning and that they need to change their lives. “Remember the words I have spoken to you: ‘No servant than greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed My teaching, they will obey yours also. They treat you this way because of My Name, for they do not know the One Who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now however, they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father as well (John 15:20-2). It’s because of love that we preach the Word of God; it’s because of love that we tell others that they must repent of their sins. It’s because of love that we are called to overcome the world so that we can eat at God’s table in heaven. Because we believe, because we are reborn, we have the Spirit of God within. And because of our faith, God Whose Spirit lives in us, gives us the strength to overcome, because Jesus overcame the world, death and all the things that keep us away from God. We have to testify to God’s truth. “When the Counselor comes, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth Who goes out from the Father, He will testify about Me. And you also must testify, for you have been with Me from the beginning (John 15:26-27). We can only succeed in following the way of the Lord if we are one with Christ. We really cannot do anything without God. He is our strength. He holds us in the tough times. The Father sends the Spirit to abide in us, so that we may choose to follow the way of the Lord. So let our lives be a reflection of His way. Jesus is the only way to the Father. Don’t listen to the doubters, they are being used by Satan to try and ruin you life. |
