Palm Sunday, The Passion

So they took branches of Palm trees and went out to meet Him shouting, “Praise God! God bless Him who comes in the name of the Lord! God bless
the King of Israel!” Jesus found a donkey and rode on it just as the Scriptures says, “Do not be afraid, city of Zion! Here comes your King riding on a
young donkey.”
(John 12:13-15)

Today is Palm Sunday in which we celebrate Christ triumphal entry to Jerusalem and than Holy Week with the Lord’s Supper, His crucifixion and
burial and culminates with His resurrection on Sunday. This is the whole reason that Jesus came to earth. Prophesies are fulfilled, all our sins are
taken by Jesus and He allows Himself to be beaten, scourged, nailed to a cross, just so we can choose to accept Jesus and the Salvation which He
bought with His life for ours and when we are called home we can live in heaven. This is the gospel that we are to preach; His death for ours, His
taking our sins, and nailing them to the cross with His body because that is how much God loves us. This is God’s love,
For God so loved the world
that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)
and we live out that love in our
lives in the way that we love God, ourselves and one another. It is also the time to celebrate Passover, which is what the Lord was celebrating with
His disciples when He gave us the Lord’s Supper. It is important that we learn and understand the Passover and other Jewish celebrations as our
Lord Jesus was a Jew and these are things that He celebrated and lived in His life.
This is the whole meaning to being a Christian. This is what we give thanks for. This is what we believe.
This next week take some time to reflect on God and what He has done for us. Read the different accounts of this week in the Bible. They are:
Matthew 21:1-11, 26:1-75, 27:1-66, 28:1-15, Mark 11:1-11, 14:1-72, 15:1-47, 16:1-11, Luke 19:28-40, 22:1-71, 23:1-56, 24:1-12, John 12:12-50, 13:1-38,
18:1-40, 19:1-42, 20:1-22. Each author of these Gospels gives us insight into this week. Read between these Gospel readings, as they will help you to
understand what is Jesus’ Way.

On Good Friday light a candle or share in a Good Friday service in honor of the Lord. You can go to a church, or in your home and follow the Stations
of the Cross. These stations help you to focus on Jesus, to be able to think about what Jesus did for you. There are many online Stations you can
print out and follow. We will post a Stations of the Cross on the Weekly Way page on Friday so that you may print it out to use it.  We will be posting
different things each day of this week so you may want to print out this Weekly Way so that you may refer to it for the Scriptures and such during the
week. Take time this week to also watch movies such as The Passion of the Christ or Jesus of Nazareth. Unplug the TV on Good Friday so that we do
have anything that could take our eyes off of Jesus and His death, also do not play games or anything that would take us away from Jesus.

It is also important that we each take time with the Lord and ask Him to show us what is lacking in our lives or if there is anything that we are doing
that is not in His way or will for our lives. We should not be afraid for the Lord to show us where we are erring and to learn from Him and to humble
ourselves and pray. Surrendering our lives to God and letting Him reveal to us where we may have strayed is the only way that we can fully
understand our lives in Him. We can sometimes let our self-righteousness fill our lives and be out of touch with God because we are living by our
emotions. We have to allow God to bring us fully into His Spirit and love and allow the fruit of the Holy Spirit to fill our lives.
But the fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the
sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25)
. We have to be open to
let the Lord bring us back to His forgiveness and grace that we may have strayed from. None of us is perfect even though we are to
“Be perfect,
therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect (Matthew 5:48)
and the only way to become perfect is to let God show us where we err. Humbling
ourselves before God is not easy, but it is the only way to know His good and perfect will for our lives and to be able to allow God to mold us to be as
He is.
If you love Me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the
Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in
you…Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I AM in My Father, and you are in Me, and I AM in you (John 14:15-20).
We can
only be one with God if we allow His Spirit to fill us with all that He is.

One of the glorious gifts that Jesus gives us is the Lord’s Supper.
While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it and gave it to His disciples. “Take it,” He said, “this is My body.”

Then He took a cup, gave thanks to God, handed it to them; and they all drank from it. Jesus said, “This is My blood which is poured out for many, My
blood which seals God’s covenant. I tell you, I will never again drink this wine until the day I drink new wine in the Kingdom of God.” (Mark 14:22-26)

We celebrate this Supper during our communion service at our churches. We receive the Spiritual Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior. It brings
us to a spiritual oneness with Jesus and fills us with His grace. It is our way of following the command of Jesus, “
Do this in memory of Me.” (Luke 22:
19b)
We remember the Lord’s Supper, His death and resurrection. Our weekly time with God is a time for renewal of our faith in God. Faith is belief
in God without what some would call “proof.” Those of us who have faith have all the “proof” we need to believe because it is given to us through
the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.

This week is a good time to renew our lives in the Way of the Lord.
“Be on watch and pray always that you will have the strength to go safely through
all those things that will happen and to stand before the Son of God. (Luke 21:36)
To remember that “No one knows, however, when that day or hour
will come – neither the angels in Heaven nor the Son; only the Father knows. Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come.”
(Mark 13:32,33)
For when judgment day comes we must be ready. We must answer to God, to answer if we have followed the Way of the Lord: we
feed the hungry, we clothe strangers, and we preach and live the Good News. For when we love God with all our being and we love each other as
God loves us, we are following the way that Christ has set before us. Are you ready?
